October 5, 2011 Garvan Woodland Gardens, Hot Springs

Today's excursion was to the Garvan Woodland Gardens, south of Hot Springs. What a fabulous place! We wish we'd had two days to spend wandering around here.

Bubba contemplating the koi pond; strange fruit on a pine tree - they are preparing for a Christmas Light spectacular; and a gulf fritillary butterfly on lantana.

The "full moon" bridge; the two of us near to top of the full moon bridge; and me in front of a beauty-berry bush (also called turkey-berry) (y'all stop laughing, now...)

Koi hoping for food; Mr. Peacock; and Mrs. Peacock.

Beautiful white flower with pink racing stripes; golden pheasant; and bog-haw berries.

Waterfall at the koi pond, and two views of a waterfall-with-cave in the Children's Adventure Garden area.

A colorful rooster-type bird in a cage; the Carpenter Dam on Lake Hamilton; and a lovely red wildflower.
