This county railroad museum ranks right up there with some of the best. These folks are almost all volunteers, and they do a fantastic job, especially the machine-shop folks who are rebuilding and restoring train cars and engines and everything that goes with them. They go to great lengths to make certain that everything is restored exactly back to original, and it shows. The tour guide turned out to be the curator, and we enjoyed him telling us details that you never get from a "self guided tour". When the guide is full of enthusiasm and cares about his museum, it makes for a wonderful visit!

1) Model train at the entrance. 2) Old No.5, which spent 40 years in Hollywood doing movies before being brought "home" to Nevada County.

1) Jimmy and Bubba standing on the narrow gauge rails, with the "normal" gauge for comparison. 2) What a workbench!

1) Old caboose under restoration in the workshop. 2) Restored caboose in the side yard.
