July 21, 2015 Twin Falls, Idaho

Today we wandered into Twin Falls and checked out the Snake River gorge.  Wow!  There are two waterfalls, the Shoshone Falls and the Twin Falls.  We visited both, and of course both are now "tamed" by hydroelectric dams.  The two bridges across the gorge were even amazing to us "flat-landers".....  We also learned that southern Idaho was a desert until they tapped into a massive aquifer beneath their feet; most crops are grown in circles with extensive irrigation.  The hay bales are about the size of a truck!

See the kayaks down there on the river?

  1. Kind of a shame what happens to waterways when they're tamed, isn't it? You know that had to be muy impressive before dams.
