June 12, 2016 Thus is begins.... Durham, NC

Back on the road again!

We departed Hot&Humid on June 6, and drove steadily north and east for four days.  Arrived in Durham, NC where we spent some happy times with our grandson, his lady, and their son - our great-grandson!  Unfortunately a heat wave came with us....  We managed to keep busy without melting, though.
Our rig is at the top of the photo.  This campground was at Swannanoa, NC just east of Asheville;
it included several levels of campsites up the side of a steep hill.
We took a walk up to the next level and looked down on our rig.
Nannie and grandson Joe.
Pawpaw and Joe.
Downtown Durham was once dominated by Big Tobacco, and the main factory was the Lucky Strike.  It closed down, and has been turned into a wonderful public space called American Tobacco, that includes offices, restaurants, and living spaces.  It is very well done!

A remainder from the early days.
Another oldie....

Durham is home of The Durham Bulls baseball team.  Nuff said.  It's a great venue, in a great place!

When there's a home run, his eyes light up and smoke comes out of his nose.....

Then we got to spend more time with the young'uns:

Henry, being a ham.
On the American Tobacco campus.
Dipping our piggies in the cool water!
More silliness!
Interesting bike rack - in more ways than one!

On Sunday, the temps were so high that outside activities were impossible.  We set up the camera on a tripod and tried for some good pictures of us all - but the short person wasn't having any of it.  We got a few and gave up.  After the "photo shoot" we went to the Cosmic Cantina for the most amazing tacos, then a quick grocery store run, and back to the air conditioned house......

Stay tuned, there's more to come!
