September 12, 2015 The Arches Trail, Losee Canyon, Dixie National Forest

Today's adventure was a bit more than I bargained for!  The literature said this was a moderate 0.7 mile hike to multiple small arches.  And it was Saturday, the busiest day at the main Bryce Park, so we opted for this off-the-beaten-path hike called The Arches Trail.  Let me tell you, some of those places on that trail scared the bejeebers out of me.  Especially suffering from dizziness caused by altitude sickness!  There were several places where I literally moved forward like a crab, hands and feet on the ground.  Dry loose gravel path, steep trail, sheer drop down:  YIKES!  But I managed to get all the way back to the trailhead.  And it was a fabulous hike, notwithstanding the scariness of it.

Confident hiker!  (oh sure)

This was some kind of shelter at the beginning of the trail,
with a collapsed roof.  Interesting.
Inside the shelter.
See the little arch?
Moderate trail.
Getting more scary than moderate.
My feet keep slipping and I was unsure of my footing....
Look here, I got this far!
Note the arches in the background.

See Bubba?
Little patch of shade for our lunch.

Just before we switchbacked on down to the trailhead.
