Our visit to
Bennington, Vermont was mostly so we could see my cousin John Carson and his wife Lucy; but it turns out there's plenty of cool stuff to do here, too! First we checked out the
Bennington Battle Monument, which was great for getting a good view of the area.

| They have purty moose (mooses? mice?) all over the place.... |
After the battle monument, we drove through three (3!!) covered bridges which are all fully functional, although of course they are one-lane. Here are pictures of two of them.
Then we went to see Bennington Potters, which was really cool. The showroom is in an old granary, as you can see from the picture. They have a huge inventory of pottery made right there; they also have self-guided tours of the potters at work there behind the shop, which we found fascinating.

| Moose butt... |

| Front of the moose. Right through the window glass! |
 |
| The reject pile.... |
 |
| The old granary used gravity feed..... |
 |
| Inside the showroom you can see the workings of the old granary. |
Last but not least, we met my cousin John Carson and Lucy at the
Publyk House, a wonderful local restaurant, and got acquainted again. Haven't seen Johnny since sometime in the late 60's; and it's our first time to meet Lucy. There was instant rapport and we enjoyed every minute with them. They were kind enough to show us their new (it's old, though) home, which is a work in progress. Plus there are dogs and cats! :) We are already looking forward to visiting with them again.
The Bennington Battle Monument looks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa! Did you buy anything in the pott'ry shop? Hi to cousin John and Lucy! (lots of books!)
