July 9, Part One: on our way to see the Boldt Castle (see next post) we had a lovely tour of a few of the islands in the Thousand Islands archipelago where Lake Ontario empties into the St. Lawrence River. The tour guide said there are well over one thousand islands, but nobody wants to change the name on all the bottles of 1000 Island Salad Dressing. (yes, it was created here by a chef) These islands have summer homes that range from castles down to one-room shacks. Imagine coming here in the summertime for a few months on your own island. It was amazing to see....

Oh, I love that you did this island-hopping cruise ... I think it's been ten years since we cruised here. We enjoyed this so much, mansions and tiny homes, all of it.
