Today we crossed into Nova Scotia and stopped at Truro. Lovely area! The main feature here is the Tidal Bore, which is what happens when the massive high tides of the Bay of Fundy arrive at the "end of the line" and push the Salmon River backwards. What we saw was a small wave come around the corner and then travel UPstream in the Salmon River, filling what was an almost-empty riverbed. The basin was completely filled within an hour.

These are various pictures of the tidal bore we watched. We got to see the small brown wave comin' on in....

Must have been exciting to see the power of nature pushing a river upstream with a wave.
ReplyDeleteActually it was. The wave was small, but that water just kept on coming, mighty quickly too. Fundy tides are just amazing.
DeleteWe waited with anticipation for the tidal bore, but that day was a bust. Glad you got to see something, even a small wave.
