April 4, 2011 Brazos Bend State Park, TX - day 2

Today we rode our bikes from one side of the park to the other, from Elm Lake over to 40-Acre Lake. While we were all the way on the other side, a mighty cold front blasted through and we ended up riding back to our campsite wearing ponchos in a cold rain.

These two rabbits visited with me while I drank my morning coffee, about 20 feet away from our picnic table. A Little Blue Heron.

An anhinga drying his feathers; nap time; and a big fat reptile (saw LOTS of these!).

Nannie and Bubba beside Elm Lake; the dramatic cold front as it came in.

Upon our arrival at Brazos Bend State Park, we immediately hopped on our bikes and went over to Elm Lake, where we saw some interesting creatures!

Our campsite; black-crowned night-heron; field of Indian Paintbrush.

View of Elm Lake; yellow-crowned night heron; and you-know-who.
