July 21, 2014 Prince Edward Island National Park, north seashore drive

We are camped at the top-center part of Prince Edward Island, at Cavendish.  Today we drove the coastal road and visited the national park shores all along the way.  Some places are sandstone bluffs, and some are reddish sand beaches.  What a delightful day!  I shucked off my shoes & socks and waded in the water, which was warmer than I expected.  (shallow shore-water warmed by the sun)  The little streams that were flowing into the ocean were VERY cold.  This part of the island is unspoiled, with fields of grain and potatoes everywhere.  Harbors with fishing boats.  Simple neatly-kept homes.  This part is known as the "Anne of Green Gables" area, since the author Lucy Maud Montgomery grew up here.  The "Anne" story is based next-door to where we are camped.  We regret that we only have 2 days to enjoy this place, and hope to get back here one-a-these-days.

Beautiful flowers crowd right to the edge of every shore.
Gotta love the signage around here!

Eroding sandstone.
Saw lots of these jellyfish.
Looks like it could be painful!

This is what a tour bus looks like, without the bus.

  1. We enjoyed this entire area. We saw Anne of Greene Gables house in a pouring rainstorm and it was still a neat place. We enjoyed the area very much. I love all your pictures. Have a great time. Sam and Margaret
