August 11, 2013 Ferry trip and Victoria, BC, Canada

Today we got up at 5:45 a.m. so we (just us, no vehicle) could be on the ferry Coho for the 8:15 trip across the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Victoria, Canada - a great 90 min. ferry ride!  While on board, we arranged a bus ride to The Butchart Gardens and back (another post).  Got back to Victoria about 4:30 and walked around the harbor and the downtown, shopped a bit, and had a good meal on the patio of a restaurant near the harbor.  Watched our ferry come back into the harbor, so we ambled over there and hopped back on for the 7:30 p.m. trip back to Port Angeles, WA.  Didn't get home to our camper until 9:45, which means we were whupped!  But what a wonderful day!

Vehicles are in the belly of the boat.

It was dark and ominous in the direction of Victoria....
But the weather cleared into a gorgeous sunny day.

The Coho was built in 1959.

Look at the size of that hawser!!!
