August 16, 2013 First Beach, La Push, Washington

This evening we went down to what's called First Beach at La Push, Washington; part of the Quileute Nation.  It was overcast, chilly and windy, and this beach was sandy, not rocky.  Every driftwoody beach we've visited has shelters made of the wood.  These are fascinating to see, as each one is different; some are elaborate, some are simple. We walked a bit and then skedaddled back to the warm truck and then home.

Fishing boat coming into harbor.

Beach fires are popular here.

Beach shelter.

My ears were cold, so I put on my toque!  (thanks again, Gwynn!)

Drift TREE.

Look at the size of this drift tree!  Wow!

  1. Oh man, you gotta turn around and face the camera the next time you have that top-knot on your head!
