Today we drove over to see Mt. Hood, which is the highest peak in Oregon at 11,249 ft. It has multiple glaciers on top and has snow on it year-round. We went all the way up to the Timberline Lodge (6000 ft.), one of only 4 places in the USA where you can ski all year long - even the USA ski team comes here. Today was snowboarding camp, so the place was busy-busy. Parts of the Lodge were featured in the movie "The Shining". This lodge was built back in the late 30's by the WPA, and some of the timbers in the main lobby are amazing....

Approaching Mt. Hood; lupines in full bloom.

Bubba in front of the bottom of the snowboarding hill; Pacific Crest trail is the equivalent of the Appalachian Trail in the east.

Bubba with part of the Cascade Range behind him; the center fireplace-chimney in the Timberline Lodge.

Sign on central fireplace; front view of the Lodge.

Yet another view of that massive fireplace. Me and a mighty fine tree.
Oh yeah, now you're talking! Nice, big pictures featuring lovely scenery! Mt Hood is a beauty, isn't it? Me & Jimmy need to pay it a visit!
