Today we opted for a leisurely drive ("Explore") across the Restigouche River into Quebec. The ultimate goal was New Richmond, but all we did was arrive and turn around to drive back. It was interesting! Quebec is 100% French so every single sign was in only French. As you can see.
All these coastal areas were first settled by aboriginals called First Nations here in Canada. (in the USA we used to call them Indians) They are quite active in reclaiming their culture and their lands. We've seen this in every place we've been here in New Brunswick. I say, good for them! After all, they were here first.....

| Cute little snowplow.... |
| Not exactly sure, but I think this park is about migration of waterfowl. |
| All French - of course, we're in Quebec! |
| Very eye-catching from the road, so of course we stopped. |
| I see the name Doucette on here..... Michelle and Duane! |
| Here we are, being tourists in Canada. |
These fast-food joints are everywhere in this area of Canada - they specialize in poulet frite - fried chicken. |
| Local tribe of First Nations people. |

| Sad to say it was closed. Plus they only sell 'em raw, not cooked. |
Drove thru this little town, Carlton by the Sea; summer place, full of people looking for sun and beach and water. |
| Stopped here for supper just before crossing back into New Brunswick...... |
| ...... and felt right at home when we spotted the Tigers sign on the door! |
It's strange that the signage is solely French. Many areas use both English/French. Oh well, at least you got your toes into Quebec.
